Policies, Terms, and Conditions

Payment Options

Credit Card - PayPal is a secure online credit card payment method and it is our preferred mode of payment. You do not have to be a member of PayPal to use it. The shipping/handling charge and tax (if any) are included in the breakdown of your total cost before you authorize payment.

Purchase Order - Purchase orders from government agencies and educational institutions, including college-university bookstores, will generally be accepted and will be used to establish an account if one does not exist. Other organizations that routinely use purchase orders may also use this method if the order is for more than $200. Send your purchase order to us by email or send it by regular mail to IT Economics Corporation, 7 Marketree Court, Gaithersburg, MD 20886. Our invoice can be paid by credit card. (See section below titled Maryland Tax Exempt Organizations and Maryland Book Resellers). Quantity orders are eligible for discounts.

Receive an Invoice - If you wish to pay by check or money order, send us an email that describes your order, including your name, shipping address, email address, telephone number, description of item(s) to be ordered, and quantities. We will prepare an invoice and email it to you. We will promptly ship your order upon payment of the invoice. Electronic checks may be sent via our online PayPal payment button. Checks refused due to insufficient funds are subject to an additional $25 service charge.

State Sales Tax

Orders shipped to Maryland require a 6% sales tax unless the organization is exempt from Maryland sales tax or is a book reseller. A Maryland bookseller is required to supply a copy of its resale certificate. (See last paragraph on this page.)

Shipping Charges

Domestic Orders: Unless other arrangements are made, our standard means of shipping to USA locations (including Alaska and Hawaii) is via USPS Media Mail. The transit time for USPS shipping is generally from 2 to 7 days, except for Alaska and Hawaii, which take longer.

If time is a critical consideration, you may wish to request a special UPS service as a shipping alternative. This is more costly but can be quicker. UPS cost varies with the UPS shipping zone you are in and the UPS service you select. Shipping transit time can often be as short as 1 or 2 days. You can send us an email describing your planned order, shipping address, and desired shipping method and we will promptly respond with cost information. You can then order online via credit card or by another payment method and include the correct shipping cost.

International Orders: International customers should first contact us via email to determine whether we ship to that international location at this time. In your email, describe your planned order, destination, and other requirements. If we do not ship to your location now, we will promptly inform you of this via email. If we do ship to your location, we will calculate the shipping cost and send it to you along with other information.


  • A book is returnable within 30 days of the date of receipt by the buyer provided there is a return authorization, the book is returned with shipping prepaid, and the book is received by us in the same new condition in which it was sent. Shipping charges are not refundable.

  • Please email us to obtain return authorization and instructions.

  • There is a separate returns policy for quantity orders from bookstores, schools, training departments, and libraries (see below).

Bookstores, Schools, Training Departments, and Libraries

The following policies apply to bookstores, schools, training departments, and other organizations that order in quantity. The policies cover quantity discounts, returns, payments, special handling requirements, examination and desk copies, and other matters

Discounts: Normal book discounts for bulk orders are available and are based on the regular selling price of the book. Contact us via email for more information.

Returns: A bookstore, school, or training department may return books for credit card credit or refund, depending on method of payment, if received within 180 days of the original invoice date (shipping charges are not refundable). Please send us an email requesting authorization for the return. A book must be the latest version, clean, unmarked, unblemished, and returned with shipping prepaid. A copy of the original invoice or order must be included with the return shipment. The amount of the refund will be adjusted by the discount applicable after taking into account the returns. Shipments must be returned to IT Economics Corp., 7 Marketree Court, Gaithersburg, MD 20886.

Payment: Invoices are due and payable in 30 days from the first of the next month after the date of the invoice. (See note below on policy regarding examination copies.)

Interest of 2% per month will be charged on delinquent accounts. - Discounts will be forfeited if accounts are not paid within 31 days of the due date.

Special Handling: Special handling requests must be received in writing (or by email) with the order.

Other: Prices are subject to change without notice.

Examination and Desk Copies: An examination copy of a book is available to an instructor considering adopting the book for his or her class. Please make your request on department letterhead, indicating academic rank, department, course name, expected enrollment, and the semester or term the course will be offered. The examination copy will be sent with an invoice payable in 60 days that will be cancelled if the book is adopted for the course and 10 or more copies of the book are ordered. This may take the form of one order of 10 or more books for the class or orders for a total of 10 or more copies by individual students from this website. If the book is adopted by a class, the examination copy becomes a complementary desk copy for the instructor of the class. If the title is not adopted or not purchased in quantity of 10 or more copies, the book may be returned in new, salable condition on or before 60 days or it may be purchased by the instructor at the invoice price. Examination copies are made available at our discretion.

Maryland Tax Exempt Organizations and Maryland Book Resellers - If your organization is exempt from paying Maryland sales tax, Maryland law requires that we have your Maryland tax exempt number or Maryland sales & use tax registration number and that we include the number on the record of sale. If this applies to yor organization, please send us the following information by email or with your purchase order and we will promptly respond:
